A hard start kit, also known as a compressor saver, is installed inside the condenser in line with the compressor electrical. A hard start kit helps your AC compressor start up to 10 times faster and more efficiently. All A/C units used to come standard with hard starts but due to manufacturing costs they’ve been eliminated.

Why is it important?

A compressor saver kit helps overcome the mechanical inertia of your AC unit upon startup. The first couple of seconds for any electrical motor/compressor is when the most strain electrically is placed upon it. With the quick boost from the hard start, your compressor has less strain and saves you energy.
